Best of Indy Tours
Join the thousands who visit Crown Hill each year and experience the incredible beauty, history, and heritage of the nation's third largest cemetery on a guided walking or driving tour. Twice voted "Best of Indy Walking Tour" by Indianapolis Monthly magazine, our Public and Private guided group tours offer an interesting and detailed look into the lives of many of the famous and infamous, fascinating, and sometimes ordinary people buried and entombed here.
With education being part of the mission of the Crown Hill Heritage Foundation, we continually seek new ways to provide opportunities for learning. We like to think of ourselves as an outdoor classroom, and one of the main ways we educate is by offering a wide variety of tours, each with a different theme. While most are historical in nature, we also offer a Tree Tour which showcases our vast variety of trees, many native to Indiana.
Almost all tours include a visit to the top of "The Crown," the highest hill in Marion County (842.21 ft) and the final resting place of the famous Hoosier Poet, James Whitcomb Riley. From his memorial participants can enjoy a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the entire Indianapolis skyline, a favorite location to watch the sunset.
