Fawn standing in Crown Hill Nature in the City

Walk, ride, drive, jog, or run through the gates of Crown Hill Cemetery and be awestruck by the majesty of the trees. Described by visitors as “the single best place for tree lovers in the city” and having “the best leaf collection in town” Crown Hill is home to 4,156 inventoried trees, "many of them big, old and uncommon."

Wander the grounds at your leisure or try a self-guided tour of the Fifty Trees of Indiana with a Tree Map as your guide. The spring blooms are magical at Crown Hill and the fall colors breathtaking. The sheer size and variety of trees are a treat for all seasons.

The grounds of Crown Hill have evolved from dense forest, to farm, to rural cemetery, to modern cemetery and urban forest. The cemetery’s founders chose a beautiful place in a peaceful, natural setting for burying the dead. They planned a place for visitors that would offer the serenity of a beautiful park where tombstones blend with the landscape. We invite you to experience the great natural beauty of Crown Hill Cemetery three hundred and sixty five days a year.

There is always Music
amongst the trees
in the Garden, but our
hearts must be
very quiet to hear it.
